PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS

DAY 1

Hello guys! So I'm back, but I'm not going to post anything about food because today I will post something about Photography.

I'm now a 3rd year student of AB Communication (yipee) and I'm enrolled in a course named Visual Communication (VC) which talks about Photography, Videography, Editing video and pictures, those kind of stuffs. Anyways, I'm not an expert in photography if you read some of my blogs I already mentioned it there. So, this course will really help me a lot to know more about it and this will be exciting cause I will learn new things and maybe be an expert in photography (fingers crossed).

So our first day in VC went a little like this for me... listen-write-be amazed-what was that-listen-write…. I was really clueless of what our professor is saying. Yes, I've heard about ISO, Aperture, and Shutter speed, but I don’t know how to use them or where they are on my camera. (DUMB! Na I’m just scared to explore my camera)

Now I know what are the use of those things I mentioned because or first lesson is about “EXPOSURE TRIANGLE” and here they are:

Shutter speed- Controls the light          - It is the length of time the shutter of the camera is open. If you want to take pictures in a place where there is a greater amount of sunlight (e.g. Sports) make the shutter speed fast, maybe 1/150s, since it is fast, less light enters your camera. So the images will be clearer and sharper. And if you want to illuminate dark places all you have to do is to longer the exposure of your shutter speed, but be careful because you have to stay still when taking the shots cause everything in the shot that moves will be blurry, So, I suggest you to use a tripod for more (safer!!!) beautiful and clearer shots.
Our Professor also mentioned about some types of Digital Image File types:

Aperture – it is basically the hole in your lens. It also affects the depth of film. The higher the number the smaller the hole is. Higher the hole the background will be more blurry.

ISO- is the sensitivity to light. The lower the ISO, the less sensitive the camera is. A lower ISO will produce a higher quality of the image, but it will require a greater amount of light. So if you want to take a picture in a place where there’s not much of light all you need to do is to change your ISO (800 above is sensitive to light) to your desire shots. Even if it I total darkness you can still take a brighter and clearer shot. That’s how ISO works!

JPEG/JPG - Joint Photographers Expert Group (support 16 million colors)
GIF- Graphic Interchange Format (support 256 colors, good for making logos)
PNG- Portable Network Graphic ( also support 16 million colors and for transparency)
RAW- (good for weddings)

So that’s it for now guys. I can’t wait for our next meeting because we’re going to bring our camera, finally it will not be hard for me to imagine those things our professor are saying.  BTW, our professor is Mr. Rey Mendoza (if you want to, you can check his site http://reymendoza.com/ )

Bye for now. I still have to take 10,000 photographs so maybe after that I will be a better photographer than I am now.
